Quitting my secure job...

Shifting Focus: Why I Left My Role at Niedermayr GmbH

For over five years, I worked as a trainer and later as the head of the trainee program at Niedermayr GmbH. During this time, I developed interdisciplinary training concepts, supported young professionals in their vocational development, and helped shape a learning culture within the company. It was deeply fulfilling work.

However, in early 2025, I made the decision to step away from this position.

The reason is simple, though not easy: I want to focus more fully on my research and creative practice. My current work—at the intersection of design, education, and media theory—requires space, both intellectual and practical. Managing two professional roles alongside motherhood has been rewarding, but also demanding. At some point, the energy needed to do all three well becomes unsustainable.

Leaving a secure job wasn’t a light decision. But I believe that academic inquiry and artistic experimentation deserve the same level of commitment as any other form of labor. And to do them justice, something had to give.

This step is part of a longer trajectory—one that prioritizes research-led practice, critical reflection, and sustainable ways of working.
